MJ’s Beef or Turkey Tacos

This is one of our family favorites and no matter how many are made there just never seems to be enough.

MJ’s Beef or Turkey Tacos

Prep Time: 15-20 Mins

Cook Time: 20-30 Mins

Serves: 4-6 People



2.5 lbs. Ground Beef (85-15 or 80-20)
Large Half White Diced Onion
1 teaspoon Canola Oil
1 teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Pepper
One hear of Iceburg Lettuce (Shredded)
½ pound of Grated Cheese
4 Tomatoes (Diced)


Pre-Heat large Frying Pan.
Add 1 teaspoon of Canola Oil.
Once warm, add diced ½ Onion and Saute until almost clear.

Add Ground Beef, cook on Medium Heat and cover.

*You will notice after about 5-7 minutes liquid will start to build up in Frying Pan, do not worry what this is doing is actually cooking the meat in its own juices.

Cook for a total of 15 minutes.

Remove meat from stove and w/ the lid still on drain the liquid slowly from the pan.

*Be careful as it can very hot!!

Put the Frying pan back on the stove.

Add 1 teaspoon of Salt.

Add 1 teaspoon of Pepper.

Brown meat to taste and then put heat on low to keep warm.


How to cook Tortillas

Add ½ cup of Canola Oil to Frying Pan.

Put stove on Medium heat.

Once oil is hot add one corn Tortilla and fold in half let one-side cook for about 1 minute, then carefully flip to cook other side. It is good to use a set of tongs to open the tortillas a bit while cooking as it makes it easier to fill with meat.

Place tortillas on paper towel to drain off excess oil.

Fill cooked tortillas about half way with meat, cheese (putting the cheese on top of the warm meat helps it to melt a little bit), lettuce, tomatoes and don’t forget to include some delicious Randy Jones Habareno Hot Sauce to give it some kick.

BBQ Pulled Pork Tacos

What a good weekend we had with the family..Although the weather was not the best it as a nice to hang out with everyone, watch some great Baseball & Football games while have a delicious dinner of BBQ Pulled Pork Tacos.

Here are some pictures and the recipe…

Pulled Pork BBQ Tacos

Prep Time: 20-30 mins

Cook Time: 4-5 hours

Serves: 4-6 people



One 3 Pound boneless pork shoulder

1 tablespoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

One 14.5 ounces of low-sodium chicken broth (2 cups)

1 cup of orange juice

1 teaspoon ground cumin

2 jalapeno chilies, halved lengthwise

2 garlic cloves, roughly diced

1 onion, coarsely chopped


Sprinkle the pork w/ salt & pepper.

Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat skillet.

Cook pork until brown about 10 minutes.

Add 3 cups of water, chicken broth, orange juice, cumin, garlic and onions to croc pot and turn on Low Heat.

Transfer pork to croc pot.

Let pork cook for 3-4 Hours on Low Heat (Slow and Low) then turn to High for 1 hour.

After 5 hours, take a fork, stick and twist into the pork which should easily pull away from the rest of the shoulder.

Drain or ladle out the remaining liquid into a strainer.

With pork still in croc pot begin to shred the meat by pulling it apart.

Add the strainer items back into the croc pot.

Once completed, add 18 oz. Randy Jones BBQ Sauce (Regular or Spicy) to the croc pot, mix together thoroughly and let sit for 10-15 minutes.

Looking good…

Add some Rice and Beans..Dinner is Served.


*Makes great leftovers for a sandwich, quesadillas or just by itself.

Former San Diego Padre great and successful restaurateur Randy Jones has been producing a world-class gluten free barbecue sauce that has been a delicious part of Southern Californian barbecues for almost twenty years. After first introducing his barbecue sauce based on his grandfather’s recipe at Jack Murphy Stadium in 1994, it can now be found at a variety of retail locations and online. And now Randy Jones has added two new sauces to his product portfolio with honey mustard and habanero hot sauces scheduled to arrive at retail this month.


In July, Randy Jones shared these two new flavors with baseball fans at Petco Park during a barbecue festival and they met with rave reviews. Hundreds of fans tried the sauces and the most frequent question heard was, “How do we get these?”

I fused the habanero hot sauce with peaches to cool it down, while giving it great flavor. But make no mistake, it still packs a punch. Both of the new sauces are available to be preordered now on the official Randy Jones Barbecue website. The honey mustard and habanero hot sauces will make their big league debut at a variety of grocery stores by late September, 2012.
